Opportunities for material re-use are more common in civil engineering projects and building projects with significant ground/site works. This is due to the fact that materials reuse is most commonly in the form of recycled aggregates and reprocessed materials that have applications in infrastructure and civil works, and building
Various types of recyclable materials are currently used in civil engineering applications. These include tire shreds, ground tire rubber, fly and bottom ash, blast-furnace slag, steel slag, cement kiln dust, silica fume, crushed glass, reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), and rice husk ash.
In the context of an EC-FP7 project on technology innovation for concrete recycling, five operational steps to implement the LCSA framework are proposed: (1) broad system definition, (2) making scenarios, (3) defining sub-questions for individual tools, (4) application of the tools and (5) interpreting the results in an LCSA framework.

The process of concrete recycling is not a complicated science. It starts from crushing the concrete using equipment with jaws and impactors . Others suggest to pulverize the waste concrete but doing so makes it harder to separate the unnecessary components and to control the particle size distribution.
Concrete, mixture of cement, sand and water is the major construction material for all civil engineering works. Today, the rate at which concrete is used is much higher than it was 40 years ago (Mehta and Monteiro, 2006). This assertion is also evident in the rate of infrastructural development in different parts of
